You seem to be taking the fact that I tried to eat someone we're both friends with awfully well.

But yeah. Not enough magnetite. I'll be good for awhile as long as I don't do anything crazy, though. He was kind of a full course meal.

You didn't try to assimilate him, and I assume you told him to keep it quiet because he didn't mention it. So it couldn't have ended all that awfully.

Knowing this place there will be something crazy you have to do. We need to figure out something. I don't have enough emotional energy for you.

And who exactly would this person we can trust be? You know I'm not exactly keen on having more people involved than necessary, and Joshua is the only other one who knows and is trustworthy.

And I'm not sure how much I really want to try and do that again. Even in a better state of mind.

I know. It's too complicated to get most anyone to understand. I'll have to talk to him and see if he has any ideas.

He's a smart man, even if he doesn't have the full context. And he's skilled with magic as well, so maybe he can see things from a different perspective.

You're going to have to learn to control yourself eventually. Not that you normally can't, but you will be hungry again.

And it wasn't my fault. Like, yeah, I'd been pretty hungry, but he did something, and all of a sudden I just completely lost it. The hunger got like, a hundred times worse and it felt like I was going to die of starvation and someone just decided to lay out a five star 8 course meal in front of me.

I know it's not your fault. I know you wouldn't do this on purpose. But fault or no, you still have to deal with the outcome.

And shockingly, he's kind of alright with what happened? Or at least he seems to have forgiven me.

... He's that kind of person, honestly. I'm not sure where the line that he won't forgive is at, but he's useful to keep around so I don't want to find out.

He's more than useful, you know. He's my friend. And I feel like shit for the fact that I almost did that to him.

You, however, haven't. Which is one of the reasons I want to help you fix this problem - I don't want you to burn yourself out of that ability.

Maybe you should think about actually getting that ability back. I might not mind being your pawn, but I'm sure other people do, and I'm not going to be happy either if you upset him.

To be hurt is to be human. And maybe you've lived countless centuries, but you're still human. You're going to be hurt either way, and with as lonely as you are, I think the inevitable hurt is worth making genuine friends out of people.

Yeah, it sucks what happened to you. I don't agree with your punishment. But I'm in the very same shoes you're wearing now myself, and I'm not going to let that stop me from making connections with people.

I'm going to remain as human as I can. Forever.

The people who care about you in turn would tell you you aren't. Give them a chance. Especially here. This place has all sorts of weirdos like us around.

Though I suppose starting with a creature that signifies rebirth isn't the worst idea.
